I have to say that these roundups are even more fun when I’m headed out to Texas Wine Country or have just returned. In this case, I’ve just gotten back from a wonderful weekend in the Hill Country. On this most recent trip, I was headed out for a new wine release and was based in Dripping Springs, which I’d never done before. More on that in a future post, but let’s just say the pizza was amazing and I maybe had one of my fave Viognier wines ever!

But as for May and what’s going on in Texas Wine Country, as always there are so many things going on.

Hye Meadow Kite Fest

This looks like so much fun! Hye Meadow Winery is doing a Family Fun Day! They will have lots of fun activites to keep the kiddos excited and ready to play including Face Painting, karaoke, Kool-Aid flights, kites, games, bubbles and MORE!! The kites will be flying Saturday, May 6.

Kim Clarke, Chef and Owner of Vivere Catering will prepare a four-course meal that will tantalize your taste buds. Each course is carefully crafted to pair perfectly with a selection of premium wines, chosen to enhance the flavors of the dishes. I was excited to see that they are featuring their sparkling wine as well as some library selections. Dinner takes place Saturday, May 13 6:30pm in the Harvest Room and tickets are $175.

Vinovium Texas vs. The World Tasting

The previous Texas vs. The World Merlot tasting; (c) Vinovium

I only recently learned about this experience from Vinovium, but it sounds like my kind of thing. They are turning their Texas vs. The World® experience into a party in 2023! And who doesn’t love a good party? With live music and a more sip’n stroll feel, but with the same incredible tasting and learning experience, the 2023 series is sure going to leave an impression about everything that is great about #txwine and the people and customers that comprise it. The May experience takes place on May 13 will feature Albariño. Tickets priced at $45. Bring some friends and truly make a party out of it.

Mother’s Day on the Lawn at Duchman Winery

As a mom, I generally don’t want to go to a restaurant for Mother’s Day because it seems that everyone else does. But take me to a winery, and you’re in business. And given the fabulous time I had there a couple of weeks ago, Duchman would be a great spot to toast mom. There will be live music to enjoy, mimosas for moms, and vendors on site to spoil mom a little bit more. And if you want, you can upgrade to their custom “Best Mom Ever” Cheese & Charcuterie Mother’s Day Board. Like how cute is this?!

The event take place Mother’s Day, Sunday May 14th from 12 pm to 3 pm.

Fall Creek at Driftwood Wine Dinner

Another place that I recently visited, I so love the setting at Fall Creek’s Driftwood winery. Inside, outside, it’s all fabulous. I could sit out there for hours. So how cool would a dinner experience be?

And just so you know, this WILL sell out, so get your tickets now. Chef Cody Taylor has put together a wonderful menu. My mouth watered when I saw the Creole corn beignets and the Cajun crusted grilled pork. Yum! Dinner takes place Friday, May 19 at 6:30 P.M. and tickets are $85.

National Wine Day Fun at Duchman Winery

What better way to celebrate National Wine Day than to attend a Texas Wine Tasting Event?! Join Duchman Family Winery at their Event Center on May 27th, from 4 pm – 7 pm, for their 2nd annual Texas Wine Tasting Event & Competition! Each ticket ($45) includes access to the Event Center with live music, wine tasting tickets, and access to their cheese & charcuterie buffet. Plus attendees will get the chance (for a small additional fee) to test their wine smarts in the Blind Wine Tasting Competition for a cash prize. A great way to see how well you know your Texas grown wines.

Adega Vinho Festä De Rosé

Let’s party like it’s 1969! Adega Vinho Winery invites you to spend a far out afternoon with them celebrating their dedicated, and extensive dry rosé program. Festä De Rosé was born on the premise of sharing one of their favorite styles of wine to produce, dry rosé! The 2022 vintage yielded a thriving and lively rosé program that seemed too good not to share in a celebratory format. It will be an afternoon of rosé, food, music and groovy vibes. They are known for their mid-century, modern vibe and given their love of music, it only seemed fitting to combine it all to offer a funky flare for the event. So grab your bell bottoms and tie dye to party down and get groovy! They’ll also have games set up on the lawn for the kiddos and adults alike.

The grooviness happens on Saturday, May 27th (Memorial Day Weekend) 12-4pm. Tickets are $43.00 per person, which includes sampling of 4 different wines and the ability to purchase pre-release and library rosés.

Cheers to Texas Wine Country. Oh! And check out my contribution to the current campaign by the The Texas Hill Country Wineries. We’re all trying to spread the word about the great things going on in the industry!

    Hi Kat,

May is Oregon Wine Month! Would you be able to make a visit to our beautiful state this month? I realize it’s a very late thought, so maybe for next year? But if you can, we would love for you to visit us. Our winery is located right in Portland. We also have some a fun trip planned to Germany and France in July of 2024 to visit wineries in the Middle Mosel and Alsace. These are the winemaking regions that inspired my husband, Barnaby, to become a winemaker. I would to chat with you about it if possible.
