Several years ago someone brought a bottle of this to our house as a present during a party. I just remember being VERY skeptical that this could be a good bottle of wine at $9. Well, you know what they say about assumptions.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>The Setup<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Ever since I was proven wrong and knocked down a few rungs, I&#8217;ve been trying this wine out on lots of people. This particular Cava is made from a blend of 50% Macabeo, 35% Parellada, 15% Xarel-lo and is made using the traditional Champagne Method. Jaume Serra even imports their yeasts from France. &#8220;Champagne like&#8221; without the champagne price. The Cristalino Brut was even named the Wine &amp; Spirits Magazine &#8220;Value Brand of the Year&#8221; for three consecutive years. Given how good it is, the $9 price tag just amazes me.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>The Wine<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The #WineSquad overwhelmingly liked this one. We all thought it was crisp and refreshing with very nice acidity. Definitely a great match for our popcorn. I was just wishing I&#8217;d picked up some fried chicken to go with it. (Next time&#8230;) Nice buttery, almost sweet aromas gave way to a dry wine with lots of citrus and green apple on the palate. Hard to go wrong with this one for a crowd.
