The Corkscrew Concierge’s June 2023 Texas Wine Roundup

And just Iike that – it’s June. School is out. Thank God! And I swear it seems that EVERYONE is on vacay! I definitely need to join them. If you’re headed out to Texas Wine Country, there are plenty of fun events. In fact, I need to give a special shoutout to Texas wineries. Their wines performed amazingly well as last month’s 2023 TEXSOM International Wine Awards, taking home 168 awards. Texas wine continues to shine…

Yoga & Wine with Vino Vinyasa

Vino Vinyasa, which combines wine education and yoga, is holding a pop up event in Houston on Saturday, June 3 at Hilton Americas downtown at 11am. The rooftop is shaded and quite breezy (they had a pop up there last year in early June and it was great). And afterwards, you’ll get a taste of Picpoul Blanc from two great producers – William Chris and Lost Draw Cellars. Tickets are $30.

In wine country? Join them at beautiful Fall Creek Vineyards in Driftwood on Sunday, June 4, from 12pm-1:30pm.

Texas Wine Collective Donuts and Wine Pairing

Texas Wine Collective always has the most fun pairing events. Join them for a special food pairing featuring donuts with their Texas Wine Collective wine. Held in their Boardroom, their wine and special food pairings are a memorable and relaxing way to learn more about our wines while sampling seasonal food/ snack items. Your host for the pairing will thoroughly explain each pairing. Plus there will be live music by Justin Furr.

Donut dipping takes place Saturday, June 3 and there are 4 sessions to choose from: 11:00 am, 1:00, 2:30, and 4:00 pm.

Texas Wine Collective Cigars & Cab

Another good one from Texas Wine Collective. Treat the men in your life to an afternoon at TWC. They will host a Cigar Roller exhibition by Bobalu Cigar Co.  Hand rolled cigars and a glass of wine will be available to enjoy onsite or you may package your cigar with a bottle of wine to gift later. Free admission. The event takes place on Saturday, June 17 from 1-5pm.

Becker Vineyards Chef’s Table Luncheon

There is no better way to spend a Saturday than with good food and great wine!  Relish the seven-course menu created by Chef Michael Lockhart paired with Becker Vineyards’ award-winning wines in our Lavender Haus Reception Hall. Lunch takes place Saturday, June 3 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 pm. And the menu looks ah-mazing. Tickets are $135.00 plus tax.

Becker Vineyards Riedel Wine Tasting

I have always wanted to do one of these! Becker Vineyards is helping you learn how and why to pair your favorite wine with the perfect glass!  Utilizing a set of three Riedel wine glasses, you’ll taste through Becker Vineyards award-winning wines to demonstrate the dramatic relationship between wine and its vessel. The experience takes place Saturday, June 10 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. Tickets are $125 per person if you wan to keep the glasses or $75 if you don’t.

Signor Vineyards Elevated Tastings

Having gone to my share of wineries, these are the types of events that keep me going back. Join Signor Vineyards every Friday from 1 to 3pm for their food and wine pairing experience. These private (and indoor) tastings take a deeper dive into the history of Signor Vineyards while enjoying five of their featured varietals that pair perfectly with their artisan menu. They rotate the menu quarterly to bring you the freshest flavors of the season, and to pair perfectly with wines hand-selected by their sommeliers. Tickets are $75 per person.

Wedding Oak Wine Train to Burnet

I absolutely love the Wedding Oak Wine Train and had an absolute blast when I rode it last summer. Check out my video recap as well as my blog post. Passengers will enjoy a 2-hour train ride from Cedar Park spanning the South San Gabriel River while enjoying an intimate talk and wine tasting with members of the Wedding Oak family. In Burnet, you’re able to spend two hours at the stunning tasting room at Wedding Oak Winery, complete with two-story views, a patio, and a rooftop terrace. Finally, relax and enjoy the ride as the train returns to the Cedar Park Depot in the afternoon. Now gather some friends and head on out. The train heads out on June 18 at 11am.

Lost Draw Rosé Dinner

Join Lost Draw Cellars for dinner at their brand new location, where you will have the opportunity to taste their latest Rosé releases. The LD in-house culinary team will be preparing a live fire-style dinner featuring fresh Select Cuts of Beef from Hill Country Beef, Whole Chicken from Cielito Lindo Farm, and Fresh Vegetables from Hat & Heart Farm. And I love the featured wines which includes Picpoul Blanc, Gemutlichkeit, Pinot Meunier, and their Saignee Rosé. Dinner takes place June 3, 2023 at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $85 per person.

William Chris Vineyards Super Club

Join the William Chris in-house culinary team once a month all summer for an expertly crafted dinner experience paired with Texas wine. Their kitchen is preparing a new menu each Wednesday and is inviting you to this Hye dining experience. Dinner includes glasses of William Chris wine that are hand selected to pair with the courses served. All wines featured will be available for purchase at the dinner. Upcoming Dinners: June 14th, July 12th, and August 9th. Arrival is at 6 PM with the dinner service starting at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $85 per person.

Siboney Cellars Domino Day & Pig Roast

I come from a trash-talking, domino-playing family, so I love this monthly event from Siboney Cellars. The Domino Day and Pig Roast is just what it sounds like and is such a fun time! It takes place on the third Sunday of each month and features a domino tournament, live music, a pig roast, cigars, Cuban coffee, and yes – wine! One of the owners, Miguel Lecuona, is Cuban and he brings much of his background to the winery.

The June event is Sunday, June 25 at 11:30am and tickets are $40 per person.

Father’s Day & Release Party at Ron Yates

Join Ron Yates and celebrate Father’s Day weekend at the Ron Yates Summer Wine Release Party on Saturday, June 17. It’s exactly what dad wants. Plus, you’ll be able to try the new 2022 Grenache Rosé – Ron loves Tempranillo, but he is definitely becoming the Grenache whisperer to me. You’ll also be able to check out the new food truck “Trailer Smash” from amazing resident chef, Dan Cook. Indulge in a delicious made-to-order Smash Burger, nachos, or tacos along with a glass of wine or two on the patio.

Even if you don’t go to any of the specific events, head on out and enjoy a glass or two while listening to live music. I’ve been amazed at all of the great music everyone has. See y’all in July.
