Woodlands Wine & Food Week, now in its 13th year, is an all-inclusive, multi-day, multi-faceted gastronomy and wine extravaganza that appeals to newbies and oenophiles alike. During the course of the week-long event, over 75 chefs will display their culinary skills alongside over 500 wines from across the globe. This year’s event will take place June 5-11 with the theme “Inspired Flavors” which celebrates food from across the globe.
Always a hit and very much the culmination of summer in Houston, Woodlands Wine & Food Week welcomes thousands each year to uncork their love for all things food and wine. This premier event brings together talented chefs, including David Cordúa of Cordúa Restaurants and Samantha Mendoza of Killen’s Steakhouse, and hundreds of skilled winemakers and winery representatives to offer up some of the best food and wine in the world. This year’s ‘Wizard Gourmet Master of Ceremonies’ is Emmy award-winning TV chef, restauranteur, and author Lidia Bastianich.
The events of the week offer something for everyone – food, fashion, cigars, wine education and a lot more. The week starts off June 6 with It’s A Guy Thing which offers up big bold wines, craft beers, poker, and cigars followed by Women, Wine & All Things Fashionable on June 7 which will feature fashion, pop-up vendor displays, music and other engaging and interactive displays.
The week continues with one of my favorite events, the H-E-B Wine Walk at Market Street on Thursday, June 8 (pay attention – there will be a giveaway!) where attendees sip, taste, and stroll amongst various tasting stations all while listening to live music.
And as this is Texas, Friday, June 9 will feature Sips, Suds, & Tacos where attendees will sample wine, craft beer, and tacos and will choose their favorite taco as part of the fun-filled taco Take-Down. Friday will also feature the elegant Ladies of the Vine Tasting, Panel & Luncheon where guests can join a panel of women winemakers, owners and experts as they guide the audience behind the bottle. Talk about a fantastic way to spend a Friday afternoon!
The week ends on Saturday, June 10 with the Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting & Chef Showcase where guests will have the opportunity to slip into their finest threads and enjoy chef demonstrations, over 500 wines, and food from 75 chefs from near and far who will compete in the Chef Battle for a $5,000 cash prize and the coveted Waterford Crystal Chef of Chefs award trophy.
Guests will be greeted by The Champagne Cove upon arrival which will offer an array of sparkling selections to start their experience and will finish the evening on a sweet note with desserts by renowned pastry chefs vying for the “Just Desserts” Award.

The Details: The H-E-B Wine Walk at Market Street will feature lots of “Inspired Flavors!” This is one of my favorite events of the week as it’s a causal sip and stroll event.
